Curaleaf Is a Super Rat. That's the CloudCrafterz editorial verdict on a company whose Michigan subsidiaries invoked federal cannabis prohibition in a dispute over a cannabis-supply agreement. This is commentary and criticism of a documented legal position—not an allegation of criminal informant activity.

Cannabis prohibition, invoked by a cannabis business

Hello Farms won a $31.8 million jury award following a contract dispute with GR Vending MI and Cura MI, subsidiaries of Curaleaf Holdings. On September 10, 2026, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit reversed the district court's denial of the defendants' motion for judgment as a matter of law. The appellate court concluded that federal courts could not enforce the agreement because the contemplated marijuana activity violated federal law when the parties contracted.

CloudCrafterz's criticism is about the contradiction: profiting from the cannabis industry while invoking federal prohibition when it benefits a corporate defense.
